The lung nodule clinic at Memorial Hospital was developed to provide coordinated, comprehensive care to patients who have newly discovered lung nodules.

Most lung nodules are discovered by accident, during chest imaging for another problem. Our clinic is designed to be able to rule out the most serious conditions quickly and provide ongoing follow up if necessary.

Most lung nodules are completely harmless and do not impact one’s health. However, there are serious conditions that need to be ruled out. For those conditions, our goal is to obtain a diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan, as quickly as possible.

For those with a new lung cancer diagnosis, we work with a care team of several specialists to design a treatment plan as quickly as possible. The national average from a new diagnosis of lung cancer to treatment is 80 days. Our average is 22 days. Faster treatment often means better long-term survival for patients.

The lung nodule clinic at Memorial Hospital is coordinated by our thoracic oncology nurse navigator. The medical director for the thoracic program at Memorial Hospital is also the pulmonologist who runs the clinic. For those with lung cancer, having access to a nurse navigator is critical.

Lung Cancer Support Group

Open to lung cancer patients and their family members, friends and caregivers. This on-going support group gives those affected by lung cancer a safe place to share and discuss their thoughts and emotions about the disease.

Sessions are led by a team of facilitators associated with the cancer center at Memorial Hospital. The group meets once a month on the fourth Monday of the month from 3 to 4 p.m. in the American Cancer Society Board Room, 1445 N. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
