Memorial Welcomes Two Top Neurosurgeons

Memorial Hospital has hired two top neurosurgeons that specialize in brain surgery and spine surgery.


Dr. John McVicker and Dr.Todd Thompson are the latest in a growing number of physicians that Memorial has hired in the last year to build a robust network of physicians, from primary care doctors to specialists. They are part of a larger physician team associated with University of Colorado Health that spans the Front Range of Colorado.


"Memorial is honored to have these two phenomenal doctors on our team. These doctors make it possible for patients who need neurosurgery to receive it closer to home," said Mike Scialdone, chief executive officer of Memorial Hospital.


Drs. McVicker and Thompson join Dr. Christopher S. Williams, clinical neurophysiologist and the medical director of neurology services at Memorial Hospital. Dr. Williams focuses primarily on inpatient and emergent patients.


These doctors treat the following type of illness and ailments:

  • • Vascular disorders, such as stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hemorrhage and hematoma and extradural hemorrhage.
  • • Infections, such as meningitis, encephalitis and epidural abscess.
  • • Structural disorders, such as brain or spinal cord injury, Bell's palsy, cervical spondylosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, brain or spinal cord tumors, congenital malformations, peripheral neuropathy and Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
  • • Functional disorders, such as headaches, epilepsy, dizziness and neuralgia.
  • • Degenerative, such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Huntington's chorea and Alzheimer's disease.
