April 20, 2011 – A group of volunteer landscapers armed with wheelbarrows, shovels and rakes transformed a small patch of grass in front of Memorial Hospital for Children into a splendid healing garden.
The volunteers are part of the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado’s southern Colorado Chapter. Area landscaping companies also provided materials – dirt, plants, bricks and trees.
The landscapers created a healing garden with three circular patio areas, tables, benches, a fountain and plants. The garden will provide a place where patients and families can relax in a serene, calming environment.
“This garden will play an important role in our patients’ emotional and physical well-being,’’ said Dr. Larry McEvoy, chief executive officer of Memorial Health System.Memorial extends its heartfelt thanks to the volunteer landscapers and local firms that provided materials to make Memorial a better place for our patients and staff. |
