Oct 7: Put Your Baby “Back to Sleep”For Immediate Release October 7, 2008 The leading cause of death in children ages one month to one year is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS claims the lives of over 2,500 babies annually in the United States alone. The cause of SIDS is still unknown and the death of a child through SIDS is unpredictable and can occur in even the most seemingly healthy infant. In an effort to raise awareness about SIDS, Memorial Health System is providing a free HALO SleepSack Wearable Blanket to all babies born at Memorial during October, SIDS awareness month. Research shows that 25 percent of babies who died of SIDS were found with a blanket covering their face. This new HALO SleepSack is a unique product that eliminates loose blankets and provides a warm and comfortable environment for babies to sleep.
