For Immediate Release
October 30, 2007
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded Memorial Health System its Medal of Honor for excellence in organ donation. To receive the award, hospitals must sustain a donation rate of 75 percent or more for at least a year and have at least eight potential organ donors. Memorial is one of 392 hospitals in the nation to receive this award.
As a leader in organ donation, Memorial contributes to the success of HHS’ National Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative, an initiative designed to save lives by partnering donation professionals and hospital leaders to identify and share the best practices among the nation's largest hospitals.
