May 14: Memorial Hospital for Children Vice President Named Nightingale Winner
For Immediate Release
May 14, 2008
Memorial Health System is proud to announce that June Chan, RN, CNS, MSN, MSA administrative director/vice president of Memorial Hospital for Children in partnership with The Children’s Hospital, is one of six recipients of the 2008 Nightingale Award for Excellence in Human Caring. The Colorado Nurses Foundation announced the select few award recipients from nearly 300 nominees at the 23rd annual event on May 10. This award recognizes those who exemplify nursing excellence and help patients regain optimal health.
“Nursing’s core value of caring for people, not the disease, is what drives me as an administrator,” said Chan. “My clinical experience as a nurse taught me that children require a special type of care, that illness never defines a child and that families should receive respectful family-centered care within their own community.”
In addition to running Memorial Hospital for Children, Chan has extensive community involvement with organizations such as Beth-El School of Nursing, Colorado Spring Safe Kids Coalition, Colorado Perinatal Care Council, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the March of Dimes.
