May ’06: Memorial Health System and The Children’s Hospital Announce Pediatric Care Partnership
The Children’s Hospital, Denver, and Memorial Health System, Colorado Springs, announced today the formation of a partnership to manage jointly the new Memorial Hospital for Children in a shared effort to provide world-class neonatal and pediatric services to children in Colorado Springs and southern Colorado. The new entity will replace Memorial’s existing Colorado Springs Children’s Hospital at Memorial Hospital.
Both The Children’s Hospital and Memorial Health System are focused on delivering the highest quality, family-centered care for children and their families. They are also the only two National Association of Children’s Hospital and Related Institutions (NACHRI) designated and nationally recognized children’s hospitals in Colorado.
Memorial Hospital for Children in partnership with The Children’s Hospital will enhance opportunities for additional research, clinical trial participation and timely and constructive information exchanges to benefit children of southern Colorado and our surrounding areas.
Seamless collaboration between the two organizations, staff and physicians will enhance the timeliness of information, patient transfers, and medical consults for children, particularly those chronically ill children who may require specialized services.
The Children’s Hospital is a leading pediatric health-care network dedicated 100 percent to caring for kids. It has been designated one of the nation’s outstanding children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and Child Magazine. With more than 600 experienced experts representing the full spectrum of pediatric specialties, Children’s is home to many nationally and internationally recognized medical and research programs. Children’s provides complete pediatric care at its main campus and through a network of care that includes eleven Children’s Care Centers and more than 400 outreach clinics.
Established in 1904 with one pediatric bed, Memorial Health System has a century-long commitment to providing the best, most sensitive care to children in our community. In March 2004, Memorial formalized its role as a leader in pediatric care by earning membership with the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).
