Mar 10 - Thousands Attend Memorial Hospital North Grand Opening

Nearly 5,000 people took advantage of Memorial Hospital North’s grand opening to get a “sneak peak” of the state-of-the-art facility, Saturday, March 10.

Tours wound through the new Birth Center with all private suites, waiting rooms with fireplaces, and flat screen TV’s in the all new labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms. The new Emergency Department was also on the tour route, as was the surgical area and operating rooms. The tours ended in the new Garden Terrace Café-Bistro where patrons were treated to fresh brewed Seattle’s Best coffee, fresh baked cookies and bananas foster prepared by the hospital chefs.

Memorial Hospital North’s grand opening also included performers from the Manitou Arts Theater, the Colorado Springs Conservatory and musical performances of Joe Uveges and Susan Rissman, and Steve Weeks.

Memorial Hospital North is a 98 bed facility and will open 7 a.m. on April 25.

Services offered include:

  • 224,000 square feet hospital on 83 acres
  • Emergency Department with helicopter transport pad
  • Pre-Surg Clinic
  • Surgery (6 state-of-the-art OR suites)
  • GI Lab (inpatient and outpatient)
  • Birth Center with 13 LDRPs
  • 5-bed Level II NICU
  • 60 bed acute care private rooms for medical/surgical patients, including telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
  • Inpatient and outpatient radiology services include CT, MRI, ultrasounds and routine diagnostics
  • Laboratory (all diagnostics)
  • Cardiology (EKG, cardiac ultrasound, stress testing)
  • Blood bank services
  • Outpatient rehab
