Jun 24: Memorial Hospital for Children Expands Medical Expertise in the Community

Memorial Hospital for Children (MHCH), the only children’s hospital in southern Colorado, is pleased to announce the addition of several premier pediatric medical specialists to its health care team. All board-certified and fellowship-trained, the following specialists bring to the community many new services and access to specialized care that was once only available in Denver.
These five most recently hired experts are part of an extensive care team available to the children in southern Colorado. Other easily accessible specialized children’s care through Memorial Hospital for Children includes radiology, general surgery, physical therapy, cardiology, anesthesiology, intensive care and neonatology. In addition to what the above medical employees offer, other new pediatric specialties available through Memorial include orthopedics, otolaryngology (head and neck surgery) and gastroenterology.
“Pediatric care is a specialty,” said John Fugate, M.D., medical director of Memorial Hospital for Children. “Physically, emotionally and mentally, children are developmentally unique and they need specialized care.”
For those families with a child who has a chronic condition/disease, Memorial Hospital for Children Pediatric Specialty Clinics provides the expertise for ongoing evaluation and treatment of children living with a cleft palate, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, sickle cell, rheumatology issues and other unique health conditions.
