Helping our family, friends and neighbors fight cancer
When people in our community learn they have a life-threatening illness, they face a whole new set of challenges that can distract them from the healing journey. Memorial Hospital Foundation's Circle of Hope Fund eases their burden and helps them to meet the enormous challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
The Circle of Hope Fund provides financial assistance to cancer patients who are being treated at Memorial Hospital with basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, some cancer medications, nutrition and transportation to appointments. The demand for assistance has tripled over the last two years and higher levels of support are needed.

In 2012, donations to the Circle of Hope Fund helped support 123 requests from our cancer patients:
More than $8,000 in housing assistance to avoid eviction
More than $8,000 in utilities to prevent shut-off
More than $13,000 in cancer medications
More than $17,000 in gas cards and grocery cards - to assist with transportation to appointments and provide pantries full of cancer fighting foods
These are just a few of the ways that we can all help our family, friends and neighbors fight cancer.
