HISTORY AND PURPOSE
Founded in 1965, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary furthers the mission of Memorial Hospital by making significant contributions to patient needs, staff education and hospital equipment. In addition, Auxiliary volunteers help to improve lives in over 75 areas of the hospital.
Through our fundraising efforts, we are able to provide the patients and staff at Memorial Hospital with the following programs and grants:
Caring Connection – this program assists families at Memorial Hospital who have just had babies with clothing, transportation and other individual needs so they can create a stable and secure environment at home for our tiniest of patients.
Educational Grants – These grants provide education for patients, staff and families, and include books, speakers and workshops aimed at creating healthy lifestyles. In the past, our educational grants have funded a children’s diabetes camp as well as educational program support for breast cancer survivors.
Financial Grants – These grants are made for the purchase of equipment not budgeted by Memorial Hospital. Examples include an isolette used for transporting infants to and from other communities and a heart model and mannequins for patient and staff education.
Ways and Means Grants – Smaller grants, funded by special sales held throughout the year have helped to provide art supplies and a music therapist for the Oncology Unit’s Complementary Care Program and support for the special needs of parents who have babies at Memorial Hospital.
In 2013 alone, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary gave over $76,000 to Memorial Hospital to assist with equipment purchases and education to 17 different departments.
Throughout the year, The Memorial Hospital Auxiliary hosts numerous fundraisers to assist Memorial Hospital in furthering its mission. These include a Craft Fair, held every fall, Book Sales throughout the year, Shoe Sales, and Jewelry Sales. Community, visitor and employee support all contribute to the success of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

The Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is a vibrant group of dedicated, caring individuals who invite you to join them. The Auxiliary exists for the sole charitable purpose of assisting Memorial Hospital. In order to retain tax-exempt status, Auxiliary membership dues support any activity of direct benefit to its members only. Money generated through fundraising benefits Memorial Hospital patients, families, visitors, staff and physicians and the Auxiliary makes all decisions regarding allocation of these funds.
