Memorial Star Transport
Memorial Star Transport is a medical team consisting of physicians, neonatal nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists and other emergency personnel along with FAA-certified pilots and a mechanic. The Star Transport helicopter is equipped with a wide range of medical diagnostic and treatment devices, including oxygen, pulse oximeter, suction systems, defibrillator, external pacemakers, non-invasive pressure monitors, Doppler, splinting and spinal immobilization gear and isolette for neonatal and pediatric transports. Our around-the-clock service provides the highest level of care in southern Colorado for adults, at-risk expectant mothers, babies and children en route to Memorial Hospital Central. Memorial Star (program) is a "DBA" for Med-Trans Corporation (Med-Trans), an FAA Part 135 certificate holder and operator. Accordingly, all transportation by rotorwing that is done by this program is, in fact, done by Med-Trans. All fixed wing transportation is done by Air Ambulance Specialists, Inc. All rotorwing aircraft and flights are under the operational control of Med-Trans, and all operations by this program are conducted for ensuring this program's rotorwing aircraft(s) are airworthy and are in compliance with its FAA-approved inspection/maintenance program. Med-Trans has specified the conditions under which flight may be operated. All rotorwing flight crewmembers at this program that are assigned to a flight by Med-Trans are qualified and have been trained under Med-Trans' approved training program.
Public Notice
The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems will conduct an accreditation site visit of Memorial Star Transport on February 4and 5, 2008. The purpose of the site visit will be to evaluate the program’s compliance with nationally established medical transport standards. The site visit results will be used to determine whether, and the conditions under which accreditation should be awarded to the program. CAMTS accreditation standards deal with issues of patient care and safety of the transport environment. Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent or valid information about such matters may request a public information interview with the CAMTS site surveyors at the time of the site visit. Information presented at the interview will be carefully evaluated for relevance to the accreditation process. Requests for public information interviews must be made in writing and sent to CAMTS no later than 5 business days before the site survey begins. The request should be addressed to: Office of the Executive Director The Commission will acknowledge such written requests in writing or by telephone and will inform the program of the request for an interview. The program will, in turn, notify the interviewee of the date, time and place of the meeting.
