Memorial Pulmonary Rehabilitation Wellness ProgramThe goal of pulmonary rehabilitation is to help people who are experiencing difficulty breathing by reducing symptoms which helps them to breathe easier, increase their participation in physical and social activities and improve their overall quality of life. A team of health care professionals helps patients with their unique problems and needs with exercise training plus patient and family education. By conducting a series of initial tests and then repeating them after the patient’s rehabilitation session, we are able to show improvement for most individuals. Exercise Program: The results of some basic diagnostic tests are required before admission to the program, which may include pulmonary function testing, chest X-ray, lab work and a graded exercise test with oximetry monitoring. We provide a safe and structured exercise program for patients with chronic lung problems supervised by a respiratory therapist and a physical therapist. Classes take place at Printers Park Medical Plaza, 175 South Union Blvd, Suite 245. Classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for approximately three months. When completed, patients may attend a maintenance class, twice a week. Education Program: Our education program provides information about chronic lung problems to patients and their families. Educational videos are shown during exercise classes on topic such as lung disease, medications, breathing exercises and controlling the symptoms of lung disease. We encourage participation in the Lung Disease Support Group held the third Thursday of every month at The Colorado Springs Senior Center, 1514 N. Hancock.
