Memorial Complementary Therapy Program

Memorial Health System provides something that most cancer programs and services don’t offer their patients—a complete approach to therapy. An approach that addresses the needs of the whole person—mind, body and spirit. An approach that unites the benefits of traditional medicine with more alternative forms of therapy and treatment: complementary therapies.

Complementary therapies are holistic treatments that help people manage the stress that goes along with a cancer diagnosis. Available to all patients, these therapies can be particularly comforting and helpful in managing many of the symptoms that can accompany cancer treatments.

Provided by credentialed practitioners to enhance healing, promote well being, provide comfort and encourage an active patient role in health care delivery and symptom management, our complementary therapies include:

  • Acupuncture
  • Massage
  • Healing Touch
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Tai Chi
  • Aromatherapy
  • Cancer Exercise Classes
  • And much, much more

Many of these services are provided at no charge through Memorial’s Volunteer Services Department; some are provided for a small fee and some may be covered by insurance plans.

In addition, The Susan G. Komen Foundation has provided grant funds for Memorial Health System’s breast cancer patients to access our “Sensational Survivorship” program, which includes access to complementary therapies.
