Memorial Health System celebrated the grand re-opening of the Surgery/Trauma Patient Care Unit at Memorial Hospital Central (1400 E. Boulder St.) on Friday, Dec. 5. This newly remodeled space is filled with features to create a healing environment, allowing Memorial's health care team to continue their mission of providing the highest quality health care for the community. Patients will move in on Thursday, Dec. 11.

Surgery/Trauma Patient Care Unit features:

• Three decentralized nursing stations, each with it's own medication station, bringing staff closer to patient rooms
• A new waiting area with fireplace and coffee service for families and visitors
• Designated work areas for nurses and medical staff to minimize interruptions
• Enhanced dining area to promote patient and family nutrition and socialization
• Carpeted hallways and nurse stations to create a quiet, restful environment
• Quality finishes and interior design throughout to create a healing environment
• A new nurse call and tracking system to enhance patient to nurse communication
