Memorial Star Transport Services

Critically ill and injured children are brought to Memorial Hospital for Children’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) via helicopter, airplane or ambulance. Children from throughout southern Colorado, Kansas and northern New Mexico are cared for during the transport by a staff of registered nurses and respiratory care practitioners.

What is critical-care transportation? We provide the highest level of emergency medical services and transportation, including emergency helicopter service. In fact, ambulance companies, search-and-rescue groups, fire departments and law enforcement personnel call on us for emergency transportation and care from traffic accidents and other medical scenes. Plus, doctors rely on us to transport patients between medical facilities.

You receive the highest quality of care available—We’re Colorado’s only critical-care transportation service that provides care for patients of any age including neonatal, pediatric, high-risk obstetrical and all adult patients. In fact, we’re the only transport service in Southern Colorado that can convert our emergency helicopter into a flying neonatal intensive-care unit.

You’re treated by skilled, dedicated medical personnel—Our emergency response team includes Registered Nurses and critical-care flight paramedics. Depending on the patient’s need, our specialty-care transport team includes neonatal nurse practitioners, critical-care Registered Nurses and critical-care respiratory therapists. Our team members are highly skilled and experienced in emergency and inter-hospital transport. In fact, to work for Memorial Star Transport, our team members must have a minimum of five years of critical-care experience. (Most have 15 to 20 years of experience.)

Servicing southern and central Colorado—Our service area is a 150-mile radius from Memorial Hospital Central.

The cost is covered by most insurance providers—You may want to check with your insurance provider to determine coverage.
