Clinical Resources & Education

Memorial Health System not only provides health care services to patients, but also provides much of the training in our community that develops the best possible health care professionals. In fact, we have programs and/or courses for the following:

Through our Continuing Medical Education, Nursing Education and Life Support departments, Memorial offers numerous continuing education and life support courses for health care professionals and the public. Classes are designed to enhance health care professionals’ skills, knowledge and excellence in patient care.

Continuing education for nurses includes Medical Terminology—English and Spanish, EKG, Pain Management and Family Approach to Tissue and Organ Donation and Bereavement. Life support courses include First Aid; Basic Life Support (BLS) or, as its more commonly known, CPR; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

In addition to providing training and developing opportunities for clinicians currently in the field, we reach out to those interested in pursing health care careers. We support 10 schools of nursing by serving as a hospital where future health care professionals can gain clinical experience hands on. Schools include: Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Pikes Peak Community College and Pueblo Community College. We also contribute millions of dollars each year toward nursing scholarships.

The hospital also operates its own school of radiology, the Memorial Health System School of Radiologic Technology, which was founded in 1969. Students are able to take advantage of gaining clinical experience in this field using state-of-the-art digital imaging technology. Upon completion of this two-year program, students receive an associate’s degree of applied science and are prepared to take a national certification exam before becoming a registered radiologic technologist.
